Android Lollipop Rushes To Nexus And Some Motorola Smartphones

Google is finally getting its latest Android Lollipop 5.0 on the fast track to update its Nexus lineup along with some Motorola phones .

If you were too disappointed about not getting the Android Lollipop update despite being a Nexus owner, things are changing. Google announced late night Wednesday that the most-awaited Android update version 5.0 is finally arriving on N exus smartphones. Motorola has also confirmed the update to the owners of second generation Moto X Pure Edition and second-gen Moto G in the U.S.

The update is being pushed to eligible handsets over the air and users can simply check for "Software update" under Settings menu to get the latest and final build of Android. According to 9to5Mac, the update is arriving for Nexus 5, both generations of Nexus 7 and Nexus 10. Owners of Nexus 7 LTE/3G models and Nexus 4 devices will have to wait a bit longer for the new software.

On the other hand, Motorola took to its official blog to confirm the availability of Andorid Lollipop for Moto G and Moto X second generation devices. The company also promises to bring the update to carrier-based smartphones in the U.S. followed by other parts of the world. The second-gen Moto G, however, was the first to receive the final version of Lollipop.

The hype around the Lollipop update is mainly due to the major changes that it brings to the device. According to The Verge, the update brings the all-new Material Design look to the phone and adds numerous features and changes such as improved battery, better security, performance and more. Android Lollipop sports a flatter look, easy access to notifications directly from the lock screen and customizable drop down menu for preferred notifications.

Motorola is expected to bring the update to other smartphones as well including Moto E, Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx, and Droid Mini smartphones but the details on the roll-out are currently unavailable.
