Colombian singer J Balvin suddenly changed his mind and decided not to perform for the Miss USA pageant this year after racist comments by pageant co-owner, Donald Trump about Latinos in the US.

In an interview with Billboard in the singer's home in Medellin, Colombia, J Balvin expressed his sympathy for Latinos and how he identified as one of them.

"But we're talking about our roots, our culture, our values. This isn't about being punitive, but about showing leadership through social responsibility. His comments weren't just about Mexicans, but about all Latins in general," he told the news source.

"I think music is to have fun. It's for people to have a good time with. I'm no savior and I'm no Robin Hood. But in this case, I feel totally comfortable and responsible with my decision."

The singer is reacting to a previous speech made by Trump in the first week of his presidential campaign. According to Yahoo News, Trump, said that Latino immigrants, bring perpetrate crime and drugs in the US. Lots of rape cases are also attributed to them.

"The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else's problems. When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best. They're not sending you. They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people," the pageant co-owner said that time as mentioned by Kansas City Star.

J Balvin was not aware of the pageant organizer's words as he was not in Colombia at that time and it was only until recently that a friend told him about it.

Aside from the Colombian singer, rapper Flo Rida and country singer Craig Wayne are slated to perform during the pageant night slated to be on July 12 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
