Apple is rumored to include local TV stations in the upcoming Apple TV refresh, according to a report from Re/code. The inclusion of local TV stations would help distinguish it from the competitors, as most of other rivalries offer content on demand and non-local content.

For sure, it would be a welcome addition as users of Apple TV who don't mind on-demand content will love switching to local TV stations once in a while. But it might delay the plans.

"However it seems that this idea could potentially force the Apple TV to be delayed as the negotiations are said to be complicated. This is because there are many broadcasters who do not own their local stations, which means that Apple will either have to deal with a middle person or negotiate with the holding company who in turn might see more complications depending on their deal with the broadcasters," UberGizmo notes.

It might mean that Apple may not launch the Web TV service in early fall as reportedly it has not signed any TV programmers for its service and we might not see a revamped Apple TV at the Worldwide Developers Conference, which kicks off June 8.
