Stephen Curry was dominating the court way before he entered the NBA.

According to a new Sports Illustrated profile article, written by Lee Jenkins, Curry's dad, Dell Curry, once had to leave the gym because his son was dominating too much. The elder Curry recalled watching his eighth grade son make shot after shot. Dell Curry stated that he left before the game ended cause he felt so bad for the other team.

Dell Curry said, "All these people were coming in to see what was going on, and there was so much commotion, it seemed like he was never going to stop. I had to get out of there. I felt bad for the other team. I couldn't watch what he was doing to those kids."

In the article, Curry also recalled that game in Toronto when he played for a team called 5-0.

"I shot everywhere and I couldn't miss," he remembered.

Curry ended up scoring 63 points that day. Despite his basketball skills, Curry was overlooked several times by college scouts who thought he would be too small to play on a higher level.

"When people count you out, tell you there's no chance, that's when it's easy for me to really focus," Curry said.

After getting the chance to play at Davidson, Curry worked hard and became a top 10 draft pick in 2009. He is now the 2014-15 NBA MVP.

The profile story appears in the May 25, 2015 issue.
