Sam Smith Tour Update: Vocal Hemorrhage Forces Singer to Cancel More Performances in Japan and Philippines

Grammy award winning singer Sam Smith was forced to cancel the Australian leg of his tour after suffering from a vocal hemorrhage, and he regretfully announced on Instagram that he will also have to cancel his upcoming shows in Japan and the Philippines.

"Very upset about Japan and Manilla dates. I've just left Australia and I'm on my way to the states to see a specialist to see what to do from there... This is f****** horrid," the Grammy winner wrote next to an Instagram picture of himself looking sad.

The canceled shows, which are all sold out, were supposed to take place May 7, 8, and 10. Smith's next scheduled tour date is May 15 in Alabama.

When he first announced that he had a vocal hemorrhage in Australia, hereleased a similar statement via Instagram to inform fans that he had to cancel his Australian tour and that he was sorry.

"I am deeply, deeply saddened to tell my Australian fans, I have to cancel my Australian tour. I have been vocally exhausted for a while now however last night in Sydney I had a small hemorrhage on my vocal cords. The doctors have told me I need to fully rest until my vocal chords have healed, otherwise this could become a huge long-term issue. I am so sorry to all who have bought tickets, I truly am. This kills me."

The British singer, 22, had been instructed by doctors to rest his voice after suffering a small hemorrhage on his vocal cords.
