Clint Eastwood talks about alleged giving death threats to Michael Moore and other controversies surrounding America's top-grossing most violent film American Sniper" in a very special gathering CinemaCon's "Legend of Cinema Luncheon: A Salute to Clint Eastwood."

According to USA Today, the luncheon is meant to celebrate Eastwood's Fandango Fan Choice Award for the much-lauded 2014 film American Sniper.

"Everyone keeps saying I threatened to kill Michael Moore. That isn't true," he said amidst a crowd of moviegoers and at least 2000 exhibitors.

"It isn't a bad idea," he added humorously.

The idea is in reference to Moore's previous Facebook post made in the heights of American Sniper's fame with the filmmaker saying that Eastwood would kill him if he will visit the former's house with a camera for an interview.

In the same Facebook post, Moore criticized the violent film for being "a mess of a film that rewrites history."

"He was just expressing an opinion," Eastwood said about Moore's comments further saying that Moore's comments help fuel the movie's success.

In the 30-minute Q&A, the director was asked how he marketed the movie enabling him to reach out to people from different cultures.

"It was marketed really well. The right people complained about it," Eastwood said coolly referring to Moore's controversial tweet that started discussions online, EW reports.

As for his future projects, the 84-year old filmmaker confirmed that he will not get his hands on Fox's Richard Jewell film with lead character played by Jonah Hill.

Deadline attributed the director's decision to his loyalty to Warner Brothers.

Eastwood, on the other hand, hinted that he will be involved in an upcoming film after taking a six-month break after doing Jersey Boys and Sniper.
