Leonardo DiCaprio and a partner Paul Scialla, the chief executive of Delos, a New York City-based developer recently purchased the 104-acre island, Blackadore Caye sprawled off the coast of Belize, Central America.

The wild, unpopulated island is not meant to be a private vacation spot but will be developed into an eco-friendly resort and will be open for guests in 2018, New York Daily News said.

The 40-year old actor is said to have first visited the place ten years ago and described it as 'heaven on Earth.'

"And almost immediately, I found this opportunity to purchase an island there," Dicaprio said.

According to the National Post, blue prints of the island's restoration program will involve giving back the island its original beauty as it is said to have suffered from overfishing, deforestation and an eroding coastline.

"Blackadore Caye, a Restorative Island" will feature the trappings of many luxury resorts, with sprawling villas, infinity pools and stunning sunset views," said a statement from the news source.

Specifically, the plan is to have artificial reefs, marine grass and mangrove around the area to encourage the growth of marine life around the area. A manatee conservation area is also being eyed to be setup in the island. And for the future tourists, villas overlooking the wide expanse of the will be built.

"The focus is to do something that will change the world. I couldn't have gone to Belize and built on an island and done something like this, if it weren't for the idea it could be groundbreaking in the environmental movement," the Wolf Of Wall Street actor, who is also known for being an environmentalist said.

According to Yahoo News, Blackadore Caye's estimated price may start from $5 to $15 million.
