Facebook has announced a new Messenger Platform at its F8 Facebook Developer Conference that would allow Messenger app users to send GIFs, videos and other kinds of content from third-party apps within app.

Starting today, iOS app developers can build Facebook Messenger support into their apps, which will be directly accessible within the Facebook's Messenger app.

Social media giant has already worked with around 40 developers so apps with Facebook Messenger support are already available in the iOS App Store.

Users can access apps in the Facebook Messenger app by tapping the "More" icon. Tapping it will open a list of available apps that can be install (ready to be installed via App Store).

The way third-party apps work with Messenger on iOS is a bit convoluted. Apps are installed independently, but those that support the Messenger Platform will send their content via Messenger, MacRumors noted.

Facebook has also released its own apps for Messengers: Stickered, Selfied, and Shout. Third party apps include ClipDis, Giphy, Bitmoji, ESPN, Camoji, Talking Tom, and Emu.
