At the recent "Spring Forward" event, Apple launched the thinnest Mac ever. The new MacBook, which is only 13.1 mm thick is available in three options - silver, space gray and gold. It's tempting at first sight but is it worth the money? We try to find out here.

Pros of the new MacBook:

The new MacBook weighs just 2.03 pounds and is 13.1 mm thick which makes it ultra portable. The 11-inch MacBook Air weight around 2.38 pounds and the 13-inch weighs 2.96 pounds.

The 12-inch MacBook has a LED-backlit Retina Display 2304 by 1440 pixels with a 16:10 aspect ratio - much sharper screen than the MacBook Air (13-inch) which has a resolution of 1440 X 900.

Reports say, the speakers on 12-inch MacBook are stereo and they sound louder. Mashable notes: "On the MacBook Air, the speakers are hidden in the vents near the hinge. On the new MacBook, the speakers are blasting sound upwards at you."

The MacBook has an intuitive Keyboard that makes it "four times more stable."

The all new Force Touch trackpad has built in force sensors that can take actions based on the pressure exerted.

Cons of the new MacBook:

The new MacBook comes with a 1.1GHz, 1.2GHz, or 1.3GHz dual-core fifth generation Intel Core M processor. According to Laptop Mag: "this is one of the first laptops in the market to use Intel's low-power Core M processor." MacBook Air 11-inch has a faster 1.6-GHz Intel Core i5 processor.

Apple has also gotten rid of all ports in the new MacBook which now sports just one USB type-c port to handle connectivity, power and storage.

The new Apple MacBook has a 480p resolution FaceTime camera while all other Macs have the standard 720 p camera. So no HD calls.
