Nintendo has been an icon when it comes to video games and it seems that they are taking extra steps to enter theme parks. Walt Disney Parks and Resorts might currently be on top but they should look out for this gaming giant entering the arena. In terms of demographics, this is also a good idea to make gamers stand up from the couch and go have a blast at Super Nintendo World just like what they did with Pokemon GO.

Last year, Nintendo made known to all about a tie-up with Universal Studios. It's been confirmed since then that parks in Orlando, Osaka, and Hollywood will gradually have Nintendo-themed sections. This week Nintendo has announced some details for Osaka's Universal Studios Japan's Super Nintendo World area. This will be the first launch out of the planned three sites.

Nintendo states that Super Nintendo World will showcase attractions that would be based on a plethora of Nintendo titles. But the initial poster looks like it's a bit heavy on Mario's world. The image has Mario and Luigi in it and the theme park behind them looks like it's taken from a Mario game with Princess Peach's Castle, those mystery boxes with question marks, mushroom huts, lush green grounds, and Bowser's terrifying castle.

When will it open?

As of this writing, little information has been officially published but one thing is for sure, it will be open before the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020 making it a good strategy for Japan's tourism and also income-wise good for Nintendo and Universal Studios as people from all around the world will be visiting the land of the rising sun by then.

Though it may sound a bit too long to wait, careful planning is key here. As Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto says, "A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad". The same strategy might be at play for Super Nintendo World.
