The newest sci-fi fantasy series "Emerald City" has landed on NBC. The newest spinoff on the favorite classic children book series 'Wizard Of Oz' set to debut on January 6, 2017.

The series will follow the story of Dorothy Gale (Adria Arjona) when she was swept into the magical city of Oz. The amazing city is highlighted in a modern day era surrounded with darkness and magic. Dorothy is bound to wind up as the colossal warrior who will take control of the mysterious kingdoms.

"Emerald City", pitched as a dim, edgier form of The Wizard of Oz, was made by Matthew Arnold in 2014, initially set to debut in 2015 with 'The Sarah Connor Chronicles' with Josh Friedman serving as showrunner. Unfortunately, Friedman left the project because of some conflicts with the network, and it was put on hold. However, NBC, in the end, brought David Schulner (Dracula, The Event) on to direct the upcoming series, with Tarsem Singh coordinating each of the 10 episodes of the first season. Friedman is still credited as producer with Shaun Cassidy.

With these, NBC has tossed down a bigger and heroic setting with its new "Emerald City" trailer. Obviously, the network is taking Oz in another topical course which one proposed to take advantage to the current fans' comprehensive fascinations on franchises like "Game of Thrones", "Harry Potter", and the like. This newest series will bring upon a more supernatural place that is known for contending domains, deadly warriors, fascinating magic and a vicious fight for supreme power.

All things considered, this certainly doesn't seem like the joyful old place where there is Oz. Nonetheless, it will definitely be an anticipated TV adaptation to look forward to.

Along with the cast are Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ana Ularu, Gerran Howell, D'Onofrio, Joely Richardson, and Jordan Loughran. 'Self/less' Tarsem Singh directed the newest series which premieres Jan 6, 2017, on NBC.
