In its quarterly sales briefing, Rockstar Games revealed that it sold over 65 million copies of GTA 5, gaming world's most successful video game ever released in 2013, and about 230 million copies of all titles to its hugely popular Grand Theft Auto franchise as indicated in our previous report. Now, the game studio is teasing fans of another future project, the highly anticipated sequel of Red Dead Redemption.

Parent company Take 2 Interactive is also upping the ante by saying that its cash cow is 'hard at work' on churning out exciting games that are scheduled to be revealed 'soon.' For the uninitiated, developers at Rockstar Games are the brains behind some of the world's highly iconic and hyper-popular titles in the gaming universe which include, of course, Grand Theft Auto, Max Payne, Midnight Club and Red Dead.

This exciting tidbit has been previously hinted based on purported leaked map that is reportedly doing rounds in various online media sources, IGN reported. The open-world Western-themed game was first rolled out across older consoles, Xbox 360 and PS3, in 2010.

Take 2 Interactive has provided scant information to keep everyone in an anticipation mode. However, the game publisher's CFO Lanie Goldstein expects 2K Games and Rockstar Games to agree on a 75/25 revenue split suggesting that no Rockstar titles will be included for release in the present fiscal year which runs from April 1, 2016 up to March 31, 2017, Game Spot reported.

As of press time, the following titles confirmed for a 2016 release include NBA 2K17 in September, Mafia III on Oct. 7, Sid Meier's Civilization VI on Oct. 21 and WWE 2K17 sometime in October according to a news update from Tech Times.

Meanwhile, a swirling rumor mentioned of a surprise release of GTA 6 as a follow-up to its highly successful predecessor which is speculated to be announced in the forthcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 2016 in June. However, this has to be taken with a grain of salt as the title has not been included in the abovementioned 2016 lineup slated for release.
