Apple Watch didn't turn too many heads last year even though it launched with a lot of hype. However, Apple Watch failed to meet the very high standards that it set for itself. To make things murkier, Apple Watch never revealed its sales figures either. But Tim Cook has always reassured that the sales have increased consistently with every passing quarter.

That the watch failed to become a revolutionary product isn't necessarily alarming for the company. Looking back at Apple's history, the most radical products that came out of brand Apple were iPhones and iPods that took forever to gain the traction that it enjoys today. Having said that, the supporters of the product argue that the judgment on the device must wait until its successor is launched.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, a reputed analyst of Apple products, says that we have to wait for Apple Watch 2 until 2017 to see the redesign and other changes. Kuo said that the Apple's take on Apple Watch 2 will be similar to the 'S' refresh of its iPhone which assures that there will be come spec upgrades but not too many changes in the overall design of the device.

Kuo wrote in a research note acquired by Apple Insider that the next generation of Apple Watch will feature "spec improvements with limited changes to form factor design." Even though Kuo didn't elaborate on the spec changes we can expect to see, it is safe to assume that next-gen Apple Watch will perform faster and sport better battery life.

However, a research note by Brian White, another analyst, stated the exact opposite and claims that Apple will introduce a new Apple Watch which will be at least 20-40% thinner and will be released sometime in June.
