Jared Leto is very determined to be The Joker in the upcoming Warner Bros Films in such a way that he even wanted to gain some pounds for an overall, convincing rendition.

In a recent interview by Billboard, the singer-actor said that he is intent on gaining weight and is, in fact, munching vegetarian tacos during the interview.

"Do you mind if I eat a little? I'm trying to gain a lot of weight. It means I have to eat every couple of hours -- and I'm terrible at eating a lot."

In the interview, Leto expressed his admiration over The Joker's character thus making him want to do his best.

"The opportunity to take on this nearly Shakespearean character -- that's what graphic novels and comic books are becoming, right? [He's] this beautiful disaster of a character -- what a big challenge."

As formally confirmed by the film company on Tuesday, the 30 Seconds to Mars frontman will play The Joker with other stars Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Will Smith, Tom Hardy and Margot Robbie for the DC Comics movie, as reported by Billboard.

The announcement first came out last December with Warner Bros announcing that Leto will play the villain role with Will Smith playing the role as Dead Shot.

Tom Hardy, on the other hand, will act as the group leader Rick Flagg. Jai Courtney will play therole of Bommerang, and the model-actress Delevingne as Enchantress, a very powerful sorcerer.

As for The Joker's on-and-off girlfriend, Harley Quinn, the role is given to Margot Robbie.

IGN said that more characters will be introduced in the coming days with Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis and Jesse Eisenberg eyed to join the team. It is said to start its filming in April and is slated to be released on August 5, 2016.

Meanwhile, People recalled that Jared Leto had also dared to lose lots of weight in his portrayal of the transgender AIDS patient Rayon in Dallas Buyers Club that earned him the Best Supporting Actor Oscar award.
