Rejoice iPhone users as the iOS WhatsApp app has received a slew of new features such as sharing slow-mo videos, photo-captioning, archiving chats and a lot more.

Apple iFans are being treated with several surprises this week. Besides the most-awaited iPhone 6 and iWatch launch on Tuesday, several apps on the iOS platform have received a boost.

The latest update to Facebook's most-popular WhatsApp messenger on iOS platform was pushed on Monday. According to the change-log of the WhatsApp update, iPhone users can share videos recorded in slow-motion, a feature that is currently available in iPhone 5S. Users can also trim videos before sharing them with friends and groups. In a challenge to Snapchat, WhatsApp added a new feature that allows captioning pictures before sending them. Other features include archiving personal and group chats, improved location sharing with an option to choose from satellite or hybrid map view and ability to attach screenshots of an error while reporting them to the Support team.

With the updated app, users can also navigate to WhatsApp's chat settings to change auto-download preferences and select new wallpapers for chat background. A new camera icon next to the send button also brings quick access to the phone's camera so images can be shared instantly. Some of these features have already been made available on the Android version of the app but most of them are yet to  come on Google's mobile OS.

There is no exact information about when the new features will be available to Android users but it  wil happen soon. The new features comes at a time when WhatsApp is widely being rumored to include voice calling.

WhatsApp has 600 million monthly active users, which is up from 500 million in April. The updated app for iPhone users is available for download from iTunes and Android users can keep an eye on Play Store for any updates.
