A loyal pet refused to stay at home when her owner was sick at the hospital. Instead it rushed to its owner recuperating after cancer treatment in Iowa.

The pet, a 10-year old miniature schnauzer called Sissy, apparently ran 20 blocks before it entered Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids and began looking for its owner Nancy Franck. It was caught on camera by security staff who later intimated the owners. Franck's husband Dale was looking for the pet after it did not return following a stroll, USA Today reported. Sissy has never been to the hospital before.

"I thought they both came back in the house. I was panicking. (Sissy's) my baby. I'm sorry," said Dale Franck according to KWWL.com. Sissy and her brother live with the Francks.

Sissy's antics were caught on video where she is seen frantically packing through the hospital. According to the family, had it not been for elevators she would have found her way to her owner.

The hospital staff identified Sissy's owners and address through her collar tags. Dale's daughter Sarah Wood went to fetch the pet from the hospital. Sissy was later allowed to visit Nancy, who was surprised when she saw her pet. She said seeing her dog helped her perk up.
