Amanda Knox whose murder trial and eventual conviction in Italy became international news is engaged to marry a musician, according to the Seattle Times.

Knox is engaged to Brooklyn musician Colin "Thunderstrike" Sutherland. The 27-year-olds were spotted together enjoying a day at New York's Coney Island in September and their relationship has blossomed even more since then.

The Seattle Times reported that although Knox's legal troubles are far from over and she could end back in an Italian prison, she announced her engagement to the musician.

"Her engagement was disclosed by a source close to the family, and Knox confirmed it in an email, but declined to say anything else," the paper reported. No date has yet been set for the wedding.

Knox was arrested in 2007 when her British roommate, Meredith Kercher, was discovered dead with her throat slit. Knox had been studying abroad as a junior in college when the murder occurred.

The engagement comes just a month before Italy's Supreme Court decides on whether to overturn her acquittal for the murder of Miss Kercher, along with her co-accused, her former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito.

Prosecutors were accused of bungling the case. On appeal two years later, the two were cleared of the charges and Knox was able to return home.

She was recently hired as a freelance writer at the West Seattle Herald.
