People who tend to use Emojis more often are more likely to be having sex, a new survey conducted by Match.com reported.

For this annual Singles in America survey, Match.com polled 5,675 singles who were considered to be nationally representative based on the U.S. census. None of the participants were on the dating website.

"It turns out that 54% of emoji users had sex in 2014 compared to 31% of singles who did not," Dr. Helen Fisher, a biological anthropologist at Rutgers University who helped lead the study, told TIME.

The results also indicated that singles that used emojis more frequently than others were also more likely to be having more sex. Singles who used emojis in general tended to go on more dates and were two times more likely to report wanting to get married.

"Sixty-two percent of emoji users want to get married compared to 30% of people who never used an emoji... that's pretty good," Fisher said.

More specifically, the survey found that women who used kiss-related emojis reported having an easier time achieving orgasms with a familiar partner, as opposed to a stranger. The researchers stated that these trends held true for singles in their 20s, 30s and 40s.

"[Emoji users] want to give their texts more personality," Fisher explained. "Here we have a new technology that absolutely jeopardizes your ability to express your emotion... there is no more subtle inflection of the voice ... and so we have created another way to express emotions and that is the emoji."

The most commonly used emoji, at 53 percent, is the wink face. The second most common emoji is the smiley face at 38 percent followed by the kiss face at 27 percent.

The survey also delved into other categories of dating and relationships, such as online dating and texting turnoffs. For more information on the survey, click here.
