Zombie apps - apps that have little to no chance of becoming popular on the App Store - are increasing per year. According to a recent report, zombie apps now make up 83 percent of the entire App Store, compared to 74 % early last year.

"That's a problem, not just because it means that a developer never gets any visibility within the App Store, but because as you know, App Store search functionality is a total joke. In fact, searching for an app within the App Store is so difficult that the best way to do it is usually to load up a browser and use Google," notes CultofMac.

During the time between January and December 2014, the App Store grew by 60 percent in size, reaching total 1.42 million apps. In the same time, a large percentage of apps also became hard to find.

As the App Store is growing, app developers are finding particularly hard to launch popular apps. Finding apps in the store is difficult and it's also not easy to make an effective search functions when there are 1.5 million apps to scan.
