Isn't it fun watching home renovation shows on television? We can see the thought process behind the design. We can see just how expensive some finishes are and what options are just as nice but without the hefty price tag. These shows also show us what are some of the latest trends regarding home amenities.

Here are some of the most sought after amenities buyers are looking for as we head into autumn.

1. Suburban life

It wasn't uncommon for people to pack up their lives and make the trek to a large city and seize any opportunities that come their way. That, unfortunately, is no longer the case. In HomeLight's Q3 survey, 35% of real estate agents have said they're seeing more people packing up their lives and leaving the cities in favor for neighborhoods that are less crowded. They do, however, want to live in a neighborhood that is easily accessible to shopping, public transportation, and entertainment.

2. Fresh air outdoors

We've spent months stuck inside our homes and it's not surprising that folks are going stir crazy! People who are living in apartments are especially affected by cabin fever because they may not have a yard to soak up some sun. So for those who are interested in buying a home, they want to find a home with plenty of outdoor living space, be it a patio, deck, or even balcony.

3. Space for working and learning from home

Although the school year is well underway, millions of students are being kept home (either because their school hasn't opened or their parents have chosen to keep them from returning), therefore they are relying on distance learning. Many companies have also chosen to allow their employees to work from home if they are able to do so.

That's why 7% of agents say their clients want to have multiple office spaces. Work and learning can get done, distraction free simply by closing the door! Plus, when you consider how little privacy an open floor plan allows, families can get out of each other's hair by going to another room.

4. Easy access to parks, hiking trails and more

Buyers want to have a house with plenty of outdoor living space, but they're also looking for properties that are close to parks, hiking trails, beaches, and more. They want to be able to go out for a change of scenery while practicing social distancing. There's nothing like going for a walk outdoors and listening to the birds without noise pollution from cars and stuff. Just imagine being able to go to a nearby park after a stressful day, going for a run, and decompressing. It would be incredibly refreshing and relaxing, don't you think?

5. Plenty of natural light

Large windows that offer a nice cross breeze and plenty of sunlight have always been in high demand, but they're really in high demand now due to COVID. When a home has a lot of windows (they don't even have to be large!), buyers can enjoy the natural sunlight and see what's going outside.

The windows are very appealing for those who want to live somewhere with a fantastic view. They want to feel the serenity of sitting on the patio with their loved one and admiring the great outdoors. Just imagine how amazing it would be to have a romantic evening and see a beautiful sunset!

Sounds pretty darn awesome, doesn't it? Buyers certainly think so!
