IBM is advancing its foray into quantum computing as it started the project called IBM Q. The new technology is using the principles of quantum mechanics to address various needs including the research works made simpler. Interestingly, it is confirmed that the concept is not replacing the current classical computers, but it will work along with it.

The quantum computers are expected to have an extremely faster processing speed and can be helpful in better analysis than classic computers. The quantum computers using the applicability of atoms and its positioning characteristics that are very difficult to comprehend and even physicists struggle to understand it according to reports. It stores data in qubits, and it means that, instead of traditional storing pattern in the classic computers of 0 and 1, it goes for four states in the quantum computer using superpositioning. Hence, it gives better solutions and faster results than traditional computers.

Though there are almost 35 years of research completed in developing the system, it is still in the infancy stage and the technical aspects making it only available over the internet in the cloud. The reports are confirming that the IBM quantum computer should be super-cooled to nearly absolute zero, and this can only be available in some dedicated area. To bring such as temperature that is not even available in the outer space, it needs days of cooling. So, the computing can't be expected in any desktop or smartphones, but can only be made available in cloud computer from the server.

When it comes to uses, it gives a great analyzing power regarding various results. For instance, if there are chemical reactions needed to be done to understand the potential results, researchers can use the quantum computing to derive the possible results without conducting the chemical reactions. This means that it gives greater analysis on various researches and provides more accurate results with greater efficiency. But, it should be noted that the reality of quantum computing is still years away, though there are some advances made in the recent years.
