A company whose executive vice president inspired one of the characters in the film 'Wolf of Wall Street' was raided by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Reuters reports that the FBI raided Boca Raton based Med-Care Diabetic & Medical Supplies Inc. Med-Care's executive vice president is Danny Porush, who was played by Jonah Hill in the Martin Scorsese film 'Wolf of Wall Street.'

The FBI was accompanied by the Florida Division of Insurance Fraud and a number of local police, according to Reuters. The law enforcement officials closed the entrances and exits of the building before entering and removing a number of boxes filled with files.

Most of the company's 200 employees left after law enforcement arrived on the scene around 9:30 a.m. Porush and his wife left the office around 3:30 in the afternoon and did not talk to the press although asked about the situation.

Reuters says that the FBI also raided the offices of the nearby LMC Medical Supplies. Both Med-Care and LMC share a number of executives, including Porush's wife, Lisa.

Although the exact reason for the raid is unclear, Reuters notes that in 2014, a former Med-Care employee testified in court that the company was engaging in Medicare fraud by having telemarketers manipulate and mislead people into purchasing medical equipment and supplies they did not actually need.

Reuters says that the company has said it is aware of those claims, and is willing to cooperate with the authorities. The company's lawyer expressed disappointment that a raid had occurred when they had already offered to cooperate in the investigation.
