The Memphis Grizzlies, Boston Celtics and New Orleans Pelicans have agreed to a three-team deal involving five players, the Grizzlies announced.

In the trade, the Grizzlies will send forwards Tayshaun Prince to the Celtics and Qunicy Pondexter to New Orleans in exchange for Jeff Green from the Celtics and point guard Russ Smith from New Orleans as well as a trade exception. The Pelicans sent Austin Rivers to Boston in exchange for a future first-round pick. The Pelicans also got a 2015 second round pick from the Grizzlies.

"It's a business," Grizzlies forward Zach Randolph said Sunday night. "Tayshaun is like a brother. We're real close here in the locker room. It's a business, and he understands that."

Prince is averaging 7.3 points in 24.2 minutes and Pondexter, who is day to day, is averaging 4.5 points in 18 minutes.

Jeff Green has had a stellar year so far. He averages 17.6 points with 4.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 33.1 minutes. With the addition of Green, the Grizzlies can become a stronger contender in the highly competitive Western conference. They are currently tied in first with the Houston Rockets in the Southwest Division.

Austin Rivers is the son of Doc Rivers, who used to coach the Celtics. Rivers was the 10th overall pick in the 2012 draft. According to some sources, the Celtics do not plan on keeping Rivers and will make him available via trade. Another source with knowledge of the LA Clippers told ESPN.com's Romona Shelburne that Doc Rivers and the Clippers could be interested in acquiring the player.

"I think a year ago I probably wouldn't. I think I would for sure. I think this team could handle that. He's a downhill guard, which is something we need, so I certainly would [be open to coaching him]," Doc Rivers said according to ESPN.com.

Rivers averages 6.8 points in 22.1 minutes. Smith was a second-round pick in the 2014 draft.
