Nick Viall, was certainly a surprise choice for The Bachelor but few would argue that he wasn't deserving after being a runner up twice on The Bachelorette and having to walk away without love on Bachelor in Paradise.

When Viall was asked to be the next Bachelor he was little hesitant. He told The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday.

"When I was asked to be the Bachelor, there was certainly some nerves and fears," Viall went on to say "but having gone through it, I'm not someone who tends to look back. I try to look forward."

Viall came second place on Andi Dorfman's season of the Bachelorette in 2014, and he became the villain after he admitted to having sex in the fantasy suite. Then a year later Viall came back in the middle of Kaitlyn Bristowe's season of The Bachelorette in 2015, where he once again was the runner up.

He tried to find love for the third time on the Bachelor in Paradise but unfortunately he had his heart broken again.

He told The Hollywood Report that he has some surprises for us in the this seasons.

"Overall, me being asked to be the Bachelor was viewed as an unconventional choice," Viall said. "Relative to my peers in the past, I'm probably a bit more unconventional and that might be a theme you will continue to see with me as the Bachelor. I'm not afraid to play by my own rules and follow my heart and do what I think is best, regardless of majority opinion."

Now he has 30 successful beautiful women competing for his heart, for that final rose. He is going to keep us at the edge of our seats this season and keep us wondering if he does find love at the end of his long journey.

Tune in to watch Viall on The Bachelor: Countdown to Nick on Sunday, January 1 at 8/7c before The Bachelor season 21 kicks off on Monday, January 2 at 8/7c on ABC.
