Lucid Motors has finally unveiled its luxury electric sedan. It is the Air EV, which will give the Tesla Model S and traditional gas-powered cars like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series a run for its money.

Air EV Features. The luxury car will feature the largest battery pack in the automotive world. The standard model will come with a 100 kWh battery, identical to that of the Tesla Model S, but Lucid will also offer a 130 kWh option.

Lucid will be partnering with Samsung SDI as its energy partner. The Air EV can run up to 400 miles per charge.

Advanced Engine Design. The Air will have 2 electric motors with 600 horsepower outputs each. The motors will be pushing a combined 1,000 horsepower. The electric car will be able to accelerate from zero to 60 MPH in only 2.5 seconds.

This has been integrated in the front of the vehicle with the HVAC and suspension system. This is a new approach in engine design since the Lucid engineers will be able to place one engine on each axle, making an all-wheel drive capable of 1,000 horsepower.

The car will also have a companion app similar to Siri or Amazon Echo to control the car. The Air is expected to be autonomous-ready with short and long range radar, Lidar, and full cameras. However, not all of the features may be available at the Launch Date.

Price and Launch Date. The Air is a luxury car with an executive price point. It is estimated to be launched with a $100,000 price tag.

It will go into production next year and is expected to hit showrooms by 2018. Lucid Motors is now accepting preorders at $2,500 deposit for the standard model and $25,000 for the Launch Edition. Share your thoughts in the comment section!
