Nintendo’s new mobile application game, “Super Mario Run” has finally been made available today on iOS. Meanwhile, “Pokemon GO” has revealed to be a strong contender in the mobile games industry inspite of experiencing a drop in downloads.

“Super Mario Run” has just been made downloadable today and is currently available for devices that use the iOS platform. The mobile application will be made available for the Android next year. The said application is a side-scrolling auto-runner platformer video game that features the main characters from the “Super Mario” series, namely Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Toad. Except for Mario, which is the main playable characters, the three others are unlockable characters.

“Super Mario Run” is the first ever mobile application Nintendo developed and released. It has ventured into this platform as an effort to enter the market for mobile gaming, which is pretty much booming and mainstream nowadays. Nintendo aims the said mobile game to be as successful as “Pokemon GO”, the application which Niantic Inc. introduced and became a worldwide phenomenon.

So far, the first Nintendo mobile game is getting favorable review and enough love especially from Australia. “Super Mario Run” is getting picked up probably because despite the need for internet connection, the game is reportedly practically free-to-play with no in-game purchases required to progress. The said mobile game is projected to be a threat to “Pokemon GO” as millions of iOS devices are expected to be released soon.

Niantic Inc. has seen a drop in revenue for the said game from July up to November this year. “Pokemon GO” has indeed experienced a drop in the number of downloads and users even with the recent Gen. 2 update and other seasonal events they have released, but it remains to be the best-selling mobile application to date, which means “Super Mario Run” has still a long way to go.
