Brad Pitt is still hoping and optimistic to spend time with his six children this Christmas. But the 52-year old actor and star of the upcoming movie Allied are still uncertain if his wish for the holiday season will be granted. The children's custody issue has been the centerpiece in his legal battles with estranged wife, Angelina Jolie.

In a report by Us Weekly, a source close to the ex-couple says "Brad hopes to see the kids for Christmas at some point, but when hasn't been determined." It is the psychologist who is currently determining the visitation schedule for Pitt and the Maleficent star, Jolie.

The former couple is in the middle of a custody battle for their six children namely: Maddox - 15, Pax - 13, Zahara - 11, Shiloh - 10, and 8-year old twins Vivienne and Knox. Jolie fought for full physical custody of their children. Pitt has been previously allowed to visit their children a handful of times after the couple's shocking breakup.

There were circulating rumors from various sources that the number of times of Pitt's visit was no more than four. Pitt's attorney, Lance Spiegel issued complaints in his November 29 letter to Jolie's lawyer Laura Wesser. Spiegel mentioned, "scheduling and logistical problems" resulted in "significant periods of no contact" between the children and their father.

A source told DailyMail.com that the supervised visits are determined by the child psychologists whose job is to ensure the well-being and best interests of the children as they go through their parents' divorce process. It has also been reported that the order, also called the "October Stipulation" that the child psychologist has also ordered the ex-couples to undergo group therapy sessions with their children.

On September 19 of this year, Jolie filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. This ended a 12-year relationship with Pitt. They were married for 2 years.
