"Sherlock" Season 4 cancellation news are making rounds online, as there have been several hints on the BBC drama's end after series 4. "Sherlock" Season 4 is believed to serve as the series finale for the BBC drama featuring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. As Radio Times notes in its report, the finale episode for the upcoming series four seemingly hints on the show's end.

According to the publication, "Sherlock" Season 4 will wrap up with an episode cryptically titled "The Final Problem." The publication further notes that this episode title resonates with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's short story wherein Sherlock meets his end.

However, fans and viewers are already aware that this scenario has already taken place in series two. It remains a mystery, however, why "Sherlock" Series 4 will have this as the finale episode title and what will happen in the end.

"Sherlock" Season 4 cancellation rumors began after Benedict Cumberbatch hinted on the show's possible end during an interview. However, the "Doctor Strange" actor later on clarified that he did not mean that the show was ending after series 4; instead, there will be a long break in-between seasons, reports Wales Online.

According to Cumberbatch, fans and viewers will find out why there has to be a long break after "Sherlock" Season 4 once they watch the upcoming episodes of the show. It is believed that the long break in-between seasons may have something to do with the rumored death of Mary in series four.

"Sherlock" Season 4 airs on Jan. 1, 2017 on BBC.
