Facebook has over 1.8 billion users worldwide and even though the social networking application requires its users to be of legal age to create an account, it is never really that hard to manipulate one's age online. In line with this, Facebook has launched a new app feature that should guide parents in letting their children access the social media platform safely. They call this the Facebook Parents Portal.

Out of the total number of Facebook users as reported by Tech Crunch, it does not specifically identify how many of the billions of users are under legal age. But with looking around, the number is obviously large. This is why the social media platform came up with the idea of creating a Facebook Parents Portal.

The Facebook Parents Portal is said to introduce parents into a set of safety guidelines and other resources which should help and guide first-time users who wants to have a Facebook account. This is expected to help the youth by guiding them when creating their own account.

According to the Daily Mail, Facebook Parents Portal will also show videos to help parents guide their children on signing up, and using the social media application. The said feature should fill the knowledge gap between Facebook's terms and conditions, and the parents themselves.

The Facebook Parents Portal is also said to help parents by connecting them to safety organizations through the internet which should help them get more advice and additional knowledge on how to guide their children navigate through Facebook.

The new feature is said to be available in 55 languages to make sure that every parent will be able to have access to the Facebook Parents Portal and be guided accordingly, as reported by Economic Times.

Facebook currently requires a person to be at least 13 years old in order to be able to create their own account, regardless if a person has their parents' consent to create one. However, it has been stressed that the Facebook Parents Portal should just be a guide to parents, and not give them the power to monitor every single actions their children do online and manipulate their account due to Facebook's privacy law.
