No matter how you look at it, there is no denying that Microsoft's move to introduce the idea of Backwards Compatibility is also a great marketing ploy. The previous titles from other Xbox consoles can now be purchased by Xbox One owners creating larger market, plus giving the gamers more option. It could also help entice Xbox 360 owners to make the upgrade to Xbox One, because they can now play their beloved 360 titles on the XB1.

More and More Backwards Compatible Games Are Made Available For Xbox One

Since its launch back in the latter part of 2015, the concept of backwards compatibility has accounted for about 210 million playing hours of Xbox 360 video games on the Xbox One console, GameSpot reported.

According to Xbox head Phil Spencer, close to half of those who own Xbox One are playing backwards compatible games in their console. And, these gamers can now choose from more than 300 titles that are now compatible to Xbox One.

And, Microsoft just keeps on improving the list with new titles added every now and then. Just for this month of December 2016, there have been five additional video games in the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility list, according to Mobile & Apps. These include "Shadowrun," Atari's 2010 "Haunted House" sequel, NetherRealm Studios' "Injustice: Gods Among Us," "Shotest Shogi," and "Space Ark."

Xbox One: The Best Games Of The Year

While each of us has our favorite titles based on our gaming preference, it's also cool to see what others have to say. And, IGN has come up with a list of titles available in Xbox One, which they think deserve to be nominated for the Best Xbox One Game of 2016 distinction.

The list is made up of some of the most popular and well-received video games for the Microsoft console. In no particular order, the nominees are: "Gears of War 4," "Forza Horizon 3," "Dishonored 2," "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided," "Dark Souls 3," "Battlefield 1," "Firewatch," "The Witness," "Rocket League," and "Inside." The winner among the 10 video games will be unveiled in January 2017.

Gamers can also choose one from the list, or even from those not included, for the People's Choice Award. So, which Xbox One game do you think is worthy of the title? Let us know in the comments section below.
