Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin announced Friday that the team has released quarterback Kenny Hill. According to a source cited by ESPN's Travis Haney, Hill asked for his release and could be interested in transferring to Big 12 Champion TCU, which his closer to his home.

"[Kenny] is meeting with his family and figuring out what he wants to do," Sumlin said to 105.3 The Fan in Dallas.

Sumlin added, reported by CBS DFW, "Most quarterbacks are used to being the guy. Some guys aren't patient. Some guys are...Quarterbacks usually are a little less patient."

The sophomore became the starting quarterback for the Aggies after Johnny Manziel was drafted into the NFL. Hill started off the season strong leading the team to a 5-0 record and a No. 6 ranking just after the first month.

The momentum ended there, however. Texas A&M went on to lose their next three games. They ended up losing five of their final seven games of the season and by November, Hill lost his starting position to freshman Kyle Allen. Although Hill was suspended for violating team rules and the athletic department policy, the coaches stated that they would have started Allen regardless of Hill's two-game suspension.

Hill was also suspended during the final part of the 2014 spring practice after being arrested for an alcohol-related incident.

Allen helped salvage the team with wins against Louisiana-Monroe, Auburn and West Virginia. Texas A&M finished with an 8-5 record.

Hill finished the year with 2,649 yards, 23 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He had a 67 percent completion rate. If Hill does transfer, he will have to sit out 2015 due to the NCAA's transfer rule. He can play in 2016 with two-years of eligibility.
