Jennifer Lawrence Apologizes to Hawaiian People for 'Hunger Games' Filming Flap

When the “Hunger Game” actor, Jennifer Lawrence sat down with Graham Norton, she shared a story from 2012 while in Hawaii, filming one of “The Hunger Games” films she disrespected a sacred Hawaiian site. She laughed about how she used the stones which were viewed as holy by the native people of Hawaii as a makeshift scratching pole during filming.

The actress who won an Oscar back in 2012, Jennifer Lawrence, offended the native Hawaiian people and disrespected them when she said the story about her incident with their secret stones. According to Inquistr, when the video became viral, she received a lot of harsh criticism which led to her apology to all the people who were offended by her story. The star said she used one large stone of the many to scratch her rear end when one rock ended up coming loose and it nearly killed their sound guy. Jennifer Lawrence laughed as she was describing how the rock nearly destroyed the sound equipment. Jennifer was unaware of the significance of the secret stones and when the video went viral and she received a lot of criticism, she apologized to the Hawaiian people, and all of those who were offended.

People immediately reacted to the story some of them said it is funny only because she doesn’t belong to that culture, if she did it wouldn’t be so funny. However, the star apologized publicly on her Facebook profile saying she didn’t mean to offend anyoneBBC reports.

According to ABC News, after the story, people took the social media to express their disappointment for the star’s action. Some people say her apology was not honest, and her addressing to the internet and not the Hawaiian people was so much more disrespectful. People see her apology more like an obligation than sincere.
