The "Uncharted" movie seems may not likely happen at all. After the ups and downs and several years delay of its production, several directors have passed up the opportunity to handle the incredible and critical acclaimed video game adaptation.

Directors Neil Burger, David O. Russell, and Seth Gordon were rumored to have directed the movie and so have several actors. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg were even said to have been approached to pen a draft of the screenplay.

However, speculations for the film focus on who will play the lead role of Nathan Drake? Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg was rumored to be attached to play the phenomenon role but recently he brought the sad news.

"Uncharted," according to Collider, consisted of four video games. The story follows Nathan on his many adventures to find legendary riches. Given his ancestry, he's most commonly chased after items and locations linked to Drake.

In the first game, Drake's journals led him to El Dorado. In the third, Drake's ring set him on a mission to find the lost city of Iram of the Pillars, mentioned in the Quran. The fourth installment took the player into an adventurous exploration and treasure-hunt of the legendary pirate Avery's stolen wealth.

Wahlberg expresses that he has now officially taken himself out for the lead role. During an exclusive interview earlier today to promote his new film "Patriots Day," Wahlberg confirmed to that he is indeed no longer attached to star in "Uncharted." Wahlberg stated that, "as of now," he is not involved in the project, according to We Got This Covered.

Meanwhile, meticulous fans already assumed that Walhberg would not be involved anymore way back when Shawn Levy was announced as director, as Levy since then announced that a new casting search was underway, as reported by Cinema Blend.

As Mark confirmed the sad news, it seems like the video-game adaptation will be back to scratch. With the 5 years delay upon the announcement, it only emphasized that the movie will never likely happen. Many video game movies have failed to top the box-office over the past decade.

Meanwhile, upcoming video game adaptation of "Assassin's Creed" will most likely change the statistics as there is quite a hype for its theater release. Michael Fassbender will play the lead role which will hit theaters later this month.

Stay tuned for more details.
