Overwatch Update: New Overwatch Winter Tournament With $100,000 At Stake; Christmas Skins With Ugly Sweaters, Santa Outfits And More
It looks like a special Overwatch Christmas Event isn't the only thing that Blizzard's cooking up for gamers this holiday season. The videogame developer is working on a brand new Overwatch tournament for North America, and with it a chance to grab a prize pool worth $100,000.
According to a report by ESPN, Blizzard has officially been starting the Overwatch Winter Premiere, an Overwatch tournament in North America where gamers from across the content can team up to get a chance to win a buckload of cash for Christmas. The Overwatch Winter Premiere officially began on Saturday last week, Dec. 10, and it looks like the tournament will be running till the very end of January next year.
Overwatch teams can join the competition by joining the open qualifier with a daily bracket round. The winner of the open qualifier's bracketing gets a spot to go on to the next day of the open qualifier. Teams that weren't able to win the daily bracket round will still gain points for their places. At the end of the first stage's open round, the Overwatch tournament will have four teams advancing by placing it first during the open qualifiers and another four advancing by accumulating the most points from the round.
So far the teams that have made it to the first qualifier are Kungarna, FaZe Clan, Kindom eSports, and Complexity.
Meanwhile, as the matches go on, other Overwatch gamers excitedly wait for the upcoming Overwatch Christmas event and the new skins that the promo would be bringing along with it.
