The popular farming game, Story of Seasons released a sequel, Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns earlier this year. XSEED shed light on their localization of the game.

The Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns is the sequel of the popular Story of Seasons.  Released earlier this year, Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns follows the story of a farmer who inherits a farmland from his or her uncle. He or She plans to prove to his or her father that he or she can fulfill his or her dream of being a farmer. Like the previous Story of Seasons game, players set up their farms and form relationships with the people in town. For Trio of Towns, there is a unique feature where players can visit not just one, but three different towns! Since the title is Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns, this gives the players the option to visit three different towns. Each town has their own unique theme, culture, and villagers where players can interact with.

XSEED Games, who is known for localizing Japanese games and bringing them to North America, took it in their hands to translate Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns. In their official blog update, XSEED detailed their development process in translating the entire Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns. They said that the Trio of Towns contains a lot of words that it surpassed its predecessor. It has an approximate of two million Japanese characters that need to be translated in English!

XSEED also shared their insights on the three towns involved in Trio of Towns. They said that each town corresponds to a certain theme and hosts certain bachelor and bachelorettes that players can form relationships. XSEED also shared how they encountered problems such as translating a bachelorette's name to match the original Japanese one and how one village proved to be a challenge to them because of their central theme.

XSEED first showed off the game's trailer back in E3 2016. Below is an excerpt of XSEED's description of the game.

Settled on a homestead in the middle of three distinct and uniquely themed locales, players can explore a diverse landscape as they search for new ways to grow their farms and friendships. Extensive customization and gameplay options are on offer in Trio of Towns, with each village offering its own variety of regional crops, lads, and ladies to romance, animals, festivals, furniture, decorations and more. More ways to play sprout up as players connect to one another locally or via the internet to chat, trade, and enhance items on a mysterious multiplayer island.

Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns is scheduled for release sometime in 2017. Share your thoughts below!
