'Game Of Thrones' Latest News And Updates: Master Aemon Character Dies At 93

December 6, 2016 marks the day that the world loses a great actor as British actor Peter Vaughan passes away at the age of 93. Vaughan played the iconic role of Maester Aemon in the HBO hit television series "Game of Thrones". He played the 100-year old Maester of The Wall, serving as a guide and adviser to two of the protagonists in the series, Jon Snow and Samwell Tarly. 

As much as Peter Vaughan was recently known for his appearances in the "Game of Thrones" series, he also held a long acting career throughout his life in British television and film.  He is most well-known for playing the character Harry Grout in the beloved British sitcom "Porridge." He became one of the most popular villain in British television in his role as Grouty in Porridge. 

His other endeavours included roles in many various films and film adaptations, playing parts in the "Citizen Smith" and "Chancer 90's" series, as well as in the movies "Our Friends in the North," "The Remains of the Day" and in the 1998 version of "Les Miserables." Peter Vaughan's career was a well-spent 71 years in the acting industry, as he began acting as far back as the 1950's. 

He is well-known for playing the best supporting characters in numerous television series and films much like his most recent career as Maester Aemon. He stayed in the "Game of Thrones" cast as the Maester for five years, starting the role when he was already 86. 

According to news from the Telegraph UK, his agent Sally Long-Innes says that Peter Vaughan fortunately passed away peacefully and surrounded by his close family. With a smile in his face, Peter Vaughan and Maester Aemon's watch has now ended.
