Justin Hartley's exit from "The Young and the Restless" left the CBS soap opera scrambling to find a replacement. Now, there are speculations that Hartley's Adam role would go to Michael Muhney, the character's old face.

"The Young and the Restless" head writer, Sally Sussman, told TV Insider last month that they have no plans to tap another actor to portray Adam. She added that Nick (Joshua Morrow) won't find out about baby Christian's real paternity "unless there is a compelling reason."

Sussman's statement probably made many "The Young and the Restless" fans upset, but it could also mean that she is throwing viewers off the scent and is allowing the soap's creative team to quietly recast Adam. Muhney's rumored return to the show as Adam quickly surfaced and the speculations gained more fire when Sharon Case, who portrays Sharon McAvoy, posted a throwback photo of her and Muhney on Instagram. Check it out below.

Shadam's rumored reunion on "The Young and the Restless" could spell trouble for Adam's marriage to Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan). This would be painful for some fans because they have witnessed the numerous obstacles faced by Adam and Chelsea.

Melody Thomas Scott, who plays Nikki on "The Young and the Restless," said during a Twitter Q&A this week that it's possible for Adam to return because a body wasn't found in the cabin. The actress joked that in soap operas when a body isn't found it means that it will return in some form or another eventually.

Adam is a huge part of "The Young and the Restless" storyline and saying goodbye to the character permanently can be incredibly difficult. He is often at odds with his father, Victor (Eric Braeden), and his siblings Nick, Abby (Melissa Ordway), and Victoria (Amelie Heinle).

Adam's continued involvement on "The Young and the Restless" is also a main driving force behind the Christian paternity storyline. Chelsea and Victor are keeping it secret from Nick and when he finally finds out the truth, his relationship with Chelsea will no doubt suffer.

Michael Roark just announced via Facebook that he is leaving his Travis role on "The Young and the Restless." The actor, however, hinted that Travis could come back to Genoa City one day as "a wiser man."

The question is whether Victoria would forgive Travis for sleeping with Michelle (Kelly Frye) on "The Young and the Restless." Victoria would likely end their engagement upon realizing that she couldn't marry someone so untrustworthy.
