"Sherlock" Season 4 teaser showcased a strange image of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. Both are seen sitting across each other, stationary, in a room surrounded by water. This apparently signifies the upcoming tide that will present something so bad and dark in the lives of our favorite detective and his friend.

A report from Collider claimed that the new teaser for Season 4 of "Sherlock" hints a possibility of Moriarty's return. Some viewers reportedly spotted an umbrella that belongs to the villain in the cryptic teaser released by BBC. However, this is not yet confirmed by producers and artists related to the show as of this posting.

"Sherlock" Season 4 spoilers suggest that the new season will be darker than the previous ones. A more dangerous villain, Culverton Smith, is expected to be introduced who is believed to be the darkest villain in the series. Actor Toby Jones will give life to the said character as per a report from FirstPost.

"Sherlock" creator Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss have already teased that Culverton is different from the rest of the villains and that he is pure evil. "This guy is the purest evil. Sherlock is actually appalled by him," Moffat revealed in another report from Collider. "He's the most evil villain we've had," the creator continued.

Meanwhile, as reported by Independent, "Sherlock" Season 4 will see Benedict Cumberbatch reprise his role as Sherlock and Martin Freeman will portray the role of Watson. The duo is expected to be back "on British soil" while Watson faces a new phase of his life. Reportedly, Watson and his wife Mary will be preparing to be first-time parents on Season 4 of "Sherlock."

"Sherlock" Season 4 air date is set on Jan. 1, 2017. The first episode is entitled "The Six Thatchers." in the meantime, check out BBC's new teaser below and tell us what you think in our comments section.
