"Riverdale" is set to premiere in 2017 and "Twin Peaks" fans may be delighted to know that it could be a new TV show to add to their list of what to watch next year. Apparently, The CW show's plot has turned into a mystery/suspense drama which is bolder than its comics counterpart, "Archie." The trailer already teased how serious and complex Archie's life would be and it seems that it also has "Gossip Girl" feels in it because of its sexy scenes.

"Riverdale" spoilers suggest that the new TV series will be a "Twin Peaks" and "Gossip Girl" mix of a show. "Twin Peaks" is a well celebrated investigative drama while the American teen drama is known for steamy relationships and complicated friendships. It is expected that the "Riverdale" cast will deal with a mysterious death while some of them will be engaged in romantic relationships, including LGBT relationship.

In a report from Entertainment Weekly, "Riverdale" Chief Producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa related the show to a Showtime crime drama because of its dark and weird take on the Archie comics. "We're saying it's a little bit like Archie meets Twin Peaks," the producer said. He also teased that Archie's love interests Betty and Veronica will share a kiss.

Aguirre-Sacasa also revealed that there will be more kissing scenes between the two ladies on The CW's "Riverdale." Additionally, the seventh episode will see a taboo slumber party filled with kissing scenes among the kids too. Can you picture the "Gossip Girl" similarity now?

Meanwhile, the show will highlight Archie, Betty and Veronica love triangle as per a report from Comics Alliance. Additionally, Archie's best friend Jughead will also be part of the show though they will not be friends in the premiere according to "Riverdale" Executive Producer Greg Berlanti.

"They won't be friends when the show starts. If it takes long, we don't know, we don't know how much episode we are getting, but I've always gotten 23 so far and this show isn't very expensive," Berlanti said in a report from MoviePilot.

"Riverdale" air date is set on Jan. 26, 2017 at 9.pm. ET on The CW. In the meantime, check out the trailer below. Also, let us know your thoughts on the darker take on "Archie" comics with "Riverdale" in our comments section.
