'Tokyo Ghoul' News & Updates: Live-Action Movie Adaptation Reportedly In The Works

"Tokyo Ghoul" anime series by Sui Ishida has undeniably become widely popular among Japanese and international anime fans. With its third installment under production, speculations have emerged that a live-action movie will be in the works.

The anime production team was rumored to be planning for the live-adaptation of their successful anime series. People behind the franchise were convinced by the recent success of the series to make a movie adaptation, as reported by Jobs&Hire.

However, despite the absence of any confirmation of these rumors, a speculated date of next year in the summer of 2017 was expected by the fans for the film to hit the screens in Japan. According to Anime News Network, the acclaimed short film director of "Super Star", Kentaro Hagiwara will be tasked to direct the adaptation. Now who will play the part of Ken Kaneki and Touka Kirishima?

A report by Kotaku suggests that unconfirmed cast of "Tokyo Ghoul"movie has been revealed. Ken Kaneki and Touka Kirishima, the two main protagonists of the anime series will be played by Masataka Kubota and Fumika Shimizu respectively. It is a well-known fact that both actors have already been cast in previous anime films. Kubota is an actor well-known for his portrayal of Kiyosato Akira in the live-action film of "Rurouni Kenshin" while Shimizu is an actress known for taking part in the "Kamen Rider" franchise.

Unfortunately, there were previous reports that the third season of "Tokyo Ghoul" might possibly be delayed for a while since the movie adaptation is in progress and that the production team's priority is the film adaptation. Meanwhile, some suggest that the pending delay was due to creator Sui Ishida being part of the "Hunter X Hunter" revival.
