The fourth episode of "Black Mirror" Season 3 entitled "San Junipero" takes a different approach to the typical dystopian anthology series from tech standpoint to a milder LGBT love story that introduces viewers to the future of an alternate reality. "Black Mirror" had some hits and misses in its first season, but the "San Junipero" proved to be popular among viewers.

"San Junipero" is a place where people with certain disabilities enrolled in the facility is allowed to download their consciousness into an alternate reality. Unlike other "Black Mirror" episodes that showcase the consequences of technology, the alternate reality has an optimistic perspective with a happy ending.

In an interview by Hollywood Reporter with Owen Harris, director of "Black Mirror" Netflix series, he was asked if there would be a possibility of a spinoff or sequel for "San Junipero" in the future. He answers that while there could be future spinoffs of the episode in other online channels, it is wise not to ask for a sequel adding that Charlie Brooker might not fancy happy endings next time around.

Owen Harris also said that the songs picked from the series are personal favorites and it was refreshing to go back to the 80's playlist, adding that a retro vibe has the more optimistic approach to life and the world. The soundtrack of "Black Mirror" episode "San Junipero" will be released on December 2, 2016, by Lakeshore Records.
