'The Pretenders' Updates, News; James Franco To Direct The Film; Features Jane Levy, Jack Kilmer and Shameik Moore As Leads

The 38-year-old actor and filmmaker James Franco will be directing the '80s style romantic drama "The Pretenders", adding another guiding undertaking to his effectively extensive rundown of credits in the past which already includes 'As I Lay Dying', 'In Dubious Battle', and 'Zeroville'.

With these, the lead roles for the upcoming film include the rising stars Jack Kilmer, Shameik Moore, and Jane Levy. Close by them, Brian Cox and Juno Temple will likewise highlight in the motion picture.

"The Pretenders" was written by Josh Boone who beforehand directed the hit romantic drama film 'The Fault in Our Stars'. Furthermore, the movie is set in New York City in the 1980s. The story follows after two school companions (Kilmer and Moore) who fall in love with the same young lady (Levy). This is an exceptional romantic tale between the trio that will traverse for years.

Rumors have it that the script for this movie has been going around and has been exchanging hands. But for some reason, nothing realized. Until now.

Jack Kilmer already worked with Franco on 'Palo Alto', which was directed by Gia Coppola and in view of a story by Franco. The actor's additional credits incorporate 'The Stanford Prison Experiment', 'The Nice Guys' and the forthcoming film 'Huntsville'.

On the other hand, Shameik Moore was the breakout star of Rick Famuyiwa's film 'Dope', and afterward landed in Baz Luhrmann's Netflix musical series 'The Get Down'. Finally, Jane Levy featured in the thriller movie 'Don't Breathe', and will soon be found in 'Monster Trucks'.

On the acting side, Franco was most recently seen in the TV movie "Mother, May I Sleep with Danger?" and in "Sausage Party." A couple of his up and coming movies incorporate "Future World," "Blaze Country" and "Why Him?" which is set to premiere December 23, 2016.
