Qualcomm is now changing the game of charging a phone. On Thursday, Qualcomm has debuted its fourth generation of its super- fast charging technology, the Quick Charge 4 which will be released in the first half of 2017.

Quick Charge 4, which was announced together with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835, is said to provide up to 5 hours of battery life with just 5 minutes of charging. Quick Charge 4 was introduced by Qualcomm senior director of product management Everett Roach at the Snapdragon Tech Summit on Wednesday, as reported by CNET.

Roach said that Qualcomm has put a lot of hard work and engineering into the company's new products in order for them to deliver a much better charging experience from 2016.

According to the report, in order for people to experience Quick Charge 4, they would have to look for phones powered by Snapdragon 835 since it is built into Snapdragon. However, the report has said that Qualcomm has not announced which companies will be using the chip.

Qualcomm reported that according to a study conducted by research firm SINO-MR, 60 percent of smartphone users prefer fast charging features when buying a phone. The report added that the company calls the feature 5 for 5, which means that the feature will give 5 hours of battery life in just 5 minutes of charging.

According to the report, Qualcomm Quick Charge is the number one fast charging method, based on the number of devices and accessories commercially available. In addition to this, it has been reported by the company that there are over 100 mobile devices and 300 accessories that come with Quick Charge 2.0 and 3.0 features.

Qualcomm's Quick Charge 4 is designed not just to charge faster, but be more efficient and run cooler than other phones and its prior generations. Compared to Quick Charge 3.0, Quick Charge 4 is said to be 20 percent faster, 30 percent more efficient and 5° C cooler while charging.
