The New York Jets are on the market for a new coach after firing head coach, Rex Ryan. According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the Jets have requested permission to interview Gary Kubiak, the offensive coordinator for the Ravens.

Under Kubiak, the Ravens finished 12th in total offense and eighth in rushing offense. The team had the highest offensive ranking in 17 years. Their run game also improved from rank 30 last year to rank eight.

The Ravens set a franchise record for total points scored within a season with 409 and had a single-season record of 5,838 yards. Quarterback Joe Flacco finished with career highs in touchdown passes with 27 and passing yards, totaling 3,986. The Ravens also allowed 19 sacks.

Kubiak, 53, was the head coach for the Houston Texans for eight years before joining the Ravens' coaching staff this season.

"I'm consumed with what I'm doing," Kubiak had said earlier this month when asked whether or not he thought about becoming a head coach again. "Every opportunity I've ever had in my life hopefully is because I'm doing a good job and working my tail off where I'm at. If you're worrying about those things, you don't enjoy what you're doing at the time. And boy am I enjoying what I'm doing right now."

The Jets are also reportedly interested in interviewing Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, Seattle Seahawks assistant head coach Tom Cable, San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator Frank Reich and Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.

The Jets have hired Ron Wolf and Charley Casserly, who used to be general managers in the league, as consultants to help them hire a new coach and a new general manager.
