Patrick Dempsey's unexpected cameo in Grey's Anatomy Season 13, Episode 8 was a true shocker to the fans. Dempsey, who portrayed Dr. Derek Shepherd on the show, died in a horrible car crash a few seasons prior.

Apparently, dying in a car crash is not a good enough reason to keep you out of the show. Fans were excited to see their favorite Dr. return to the Grey Sloan Hospital. In the episode titled "The Room Where It Happens", Derek Shepherd came back in a form of a clear vision.

The vision was by Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo). Derek appeared in front of her after an exhausting day at work. With this latest appearance on the show, die-hard fans have become hopeful that another beloved character might make a comeback.

Fans were happy about the cameo, no matter how brief it was. This has caused a lot of speculations online with regards to original characters of the show making a comeback. After all, it was reported that Grey's Anatomy is planning to focus more on its original characters.

Grey's Anatomy's very own Dr. Cristina Yang, played by Sandra Oh, was one of the fan favorites to return. Oh's character left the show during the Season 10 finale. Fans might recall that Dr. Yang officially left when she accepted a job offer to run a hospital built by her ex, Dr. Preston Burke.

Although there are no confirmations to Oh's return, fans are truly hopeful to see Dr. Cristina Yang in the current season. Oh's return as Dr. Cristina Yang is completely doable for the show. Considering the fact that her character only moved away, the writers of the show can pull this off if they want.

That is, if they can get Sandra Oh to get back. The actress herself already confirmed that she has no plans of returning to the series soon. The reasons behind her exit back in season 10 are still unclear.

If the show runners can get Oh to come back, fans might be able to witness Dry. Yang's comeback in Grey's Anatomy. In the meantime, fans will just have watch how things unfold in the series.

Catch Grey's Anatomy every Thursday at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
