Chris Rock, the famous stand-up comedian, has reportedly filed for divorce from philanthropist wife Malaak-Compton Rock after 19 years of marriage.

Malaak officially announced the end of the marriage via a statement, according to People Magazine.

"After much contemplation and 19 years of marriage, Chris and I have decided to go our separate ways. Being fortunate enough to lead a life of service by working with those most vulnerable makes me well aware of life's blessings, even when faced with difficulties," she said in the statement.

"While recognizing that this is a significant change, my children remain at the center of my life and their well-being is my top priority. It is in this spirit that I sincerely ask that their privacy and the privacy of our family be respected during this transition in our lives."

Rock's lawyer also confirmed the news.

"Chris Rock has filed for divorce from his wife, Malaak. This is a personal matter and Chris requests privacy as he and Malaak work through this process and focus on their family," he said.

Chris and Malaak tied the knot in 1996. The couple has two daughters together.

The news doesn't come as a surprise because apparently, the couple has been dealing with marriage issues for years now.

"They care deeply for their kids' well-being and they wanted to wait to make any announcement. They feel this is the best decision for their kids and each other," an insider source told E!Online.
