With the upcoming release of Nintendo's newest console, Nintendo Switch, many fans are wondering what would happen to the WiiU and the 3DS consoles. Eurogamer earlier reported that the company will bring out the final batch of WiiU on November 4, bringing forth speculations that Nintendo will cease production of the said console.

Nintendo however, denied this fact. According to IT Media, a Japanese website, a spokesperson for Nintendo said, "There is no change to our continuing production [WiiU]." He also said that he was not aware of the information on the said article but made it a point that ending the WiiU production "is not true."

Earlier this March, there's also a rumor about stopping WiiU's production according to Japanese newspaper Nikkei. According to the newspaper, the production of the console will stop to make way for the upcoming Nintendo Switch, which is known as Nintendo NX that time. The company also denied the report and assured fans that WiiU will proceed to produce more units of the console.

However, President Tatsumi Kimishima said that Nintendo would reduce the amount of production and shipping of WiiU. The company also stated that there are still games in development for the WiiU. This could be a reference to the upcoming Legend of Zelda title, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which is bound for release in 2017 for the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo Switch.

The Nintendo Wii U console is the successor of the Wii. It was first released in November 2012 and the first of the eighth-generation video game consoles, competing with Sony's Playstation 4 and Microsoft's XBox One. Nintendo already sold 12.8 million copies of WiiU since its launch in 2012.

Nintendo also announced their upcoming console, Nintendo Switch. Details on its release date, price and the games it will support will be announced on January 12, 2017. There's also a Switch Event demo where they will let the public test the console.
