The largest online social network, Facebook is teaming up with National Football League to distribute NFL video clips to its users.

Fans of 'Tampa Bay Buccaneer,' among the 1.3 billion users who 'Like' the Facebook page of the team, the ad-supported clips will appear in the news feed. For other teams, the social networking service will post clips on users' news feed based on users' location.

Facebook kicked off a "small video sponsorship test" by posting the first video on NFL's Facebook's page, featured two side-by-side clips of touchdown runs by Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch.

33-second highlight video was also followed by a 10-second ad for Verizon Wireless while a Verizon Wireless banner ran across the bottom of the video.

"We will be evaluating how people, publishers and marketers respond to this kind of co-branded video content," a Facebook spokesperson said. "We have nothing else to share at this time."

Earlier NFL had posted interviews and promo videos to Facebook, but it was the first time that the sort of game highlights the league closely protects distribution of have appeared on its page, LA Times wrote.

"This is the first step in a broader relationship with Facebook to share premium content with NFL fans across their community," an NFL spokesman said in a statement.
