Actress Jennifer Garner said she makes sure her three kids with former husband, actor Ben Affleck, spend time and resources for causes that matter to them and to spend energy in helping make the world a little better. The "Miracles from Heaven" actress hosted the "Save the Children" gala night on Monday in New York.

Garner, in an interview after the Illumination Gala, told the media how important charity is for her. Having kids of her own, she shared how children have a soft spot in her heart and how she cultivates the value of charity in her own children.

"It's so important that you model for your kids how to be a citizen of the world, and I think that's the very best thing you can do," said Garner who filed for divorce against Affleck in 2015, but who allowed the actor to bond with their kids, namely, Violet, 10; Seraphina, 7 and Samuel, 4.

"I've worked with Save the Children for the last eight years, and my whole heart is here," the actress continued saying as quoted by ET Online. Jennifer Garner's happiness for the charity's gala night's success is patent on her face. In heart, she was thankful for the people to have come for the cause.

Affleck, in turn, shares in the efforts in rearing their children to become good citizens of the world. In a previous interview, Affleck admitted his three children are still his priority. He keeps abreast of their kids' lives, especially when it comes to art projects and school's homework.

Even before the initial divorce, the media has already been reporting how Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner put their children their priority for whatever cost. Garner filed for divorce against the "Batman" actor after a decade of marriage. After the divorce was made public, the actor was at the height of controversy about extra-marital affairs.
