LG might be abandoning the modular smartphone design for its LG G6. This news caught a lot of attention especially for the loyalist of LG series. LG first debuts LG G5 as their first ever modular smartphone just newly launched this February of the year.

LG G6, according to phone Arena, multiple industry sources are saying that it will have an 'integral structure' rather than a 'modular one'. In simple explanation, 'modular smartphone' is a smartphone so designed to be composed of different and independent components. Making it easier to repair. phone Arena also stated in their article that the phone could be like or resemble a V20 without a secondary screen.

Modular Smartphone design may seem for some as a source of problem. According to Gadgets NDTV, modular accessories needs to be bought separately causing the cost to go up. This can contribute to poor sales of smartphone. LG Friends, or the modular accessories of LG includes the Hi-Fi Plus, an LG Cam Plus, a portable Hi-Fi DAC which can be a standalone portable DAC.

People, especially users of LG G5, expected that LG G6 will follow the step of G5 and will be a modular smartphone. The said change comes as a surprise because Ken Hong, the company's spokesperson, said and confirmed that LG will not ditch the modular concept in the subsequent generation of G-Series as stated in an article in Gadgets NDTV.

The decision of moving away from a modular smartphone design is reasonable, for switching to modular design requires a lot. For LG G6, modular or not, we can expect that something good will come out of the new design since we are talking about LG.

LG G6 might be or might not be a 'modular smartphone' since no official confirmation from the company has yet to arise.
